School Programs
The Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities' school programs offer families an alternative choice of educational environments for their child with developmental disabilities.
Early Childhood Services serve children and their guardians as early as birth to age 5. Its preschool program is specially designed to meet the varying needs of children with disabilities and also provides a fully accredited preschool for a number of their typically developing peers. The preschool classrooms are located in Eastgate Early Childhood and Family Center at 2121 Ashland St in Louisville and the Day Early Childhood Center through Plain local schools at 3101 38th St. in Canton. These programs are licensed by the Ohio Department of Education’s Office of Early Learning and School Readiness
School Age Services for students ages 6-21 include Rebecca Stallman Southgate School, a public separate educational facility, and certain classrooms at Warstler Elementary through Plain local schools. These programs meet all standards as specified by the Ohio Department of Education. All students receiving services progress through Ohio’s Academic Content Standards at their individualized pace. Southgate is located at 3057 Cleveland Avenue SW in Canton behind the Southgate shopping center. Warstler is located at 2500 Schneider Rd in Canton.
