Special Olympics Motto: “Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”

Special Olympics believes that through sports training and competition among those of equal abilities, people with developmental disabilities benefit physically, mentally, socially and spiritually; families are strengthened; and the community at large is united in understanding, equality, respect and acceptance.

Stark DD Special Olympic programs are open to those 8 years of age and older who live in the Stark County community, and are eligible to receive Board Services. Students attending either Board or public school programs, and adults attending Board programs or those in our community are welcome!

Currently, Stark DD participates in seven internationally recognized Special Olympics sports: Basketball (Men’s and Women’s), Bowling, Track & Field, Bocce, Swimming, Flag Football and Softball. There is also a developmental program designed for persons with more severe handicaps, emphasizing training and participation more than competition.

How do you sign up to be a part of Stark DD Special Olympics?
